HOME IS WHERE THE WORK IS

When I was building our two dream homes, I never once stopped to think about creating an office space for myself. Joe, being the business man as he was, was all set up. For me, while working on the two remodels for four years, I would find myself moving from the couch, to the kitchen, to my bed, and never had a place of my own. After the homes were completed, I turned my focus to our home building business @pacificcoasthomereveal, my charity www.educateme4life.org, and my home and fashion business www.amyplusjoe.com.

I showed Joe to the two areas I wanted to create my own space. At first, he wasn’t feeling it and couldn’t see the final looks. But as usual, I simply put my hand on his shoulder and said, “you just have to trust me.”. I am so pleased how they both turned out, and want to share with you my favorite looks and finds!

My Texas Office Space

My Texas office space features a simple white desk paired with brass accessories for a touch of elegance. And of course, I added a fuzzy rug for those days when I just want to kick off my shoes and get comfy!  I think less is more in these areas and also love having all the plugs tucked away nicely.

WHAT’S MY FAVORITE NEW PIECE?

I was so excited to get my new chair from Anthropology.  Adding something more eclectic to a simple, modern area is a must!  Check out the print on this chair.  Absolutely adorable!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF…..

What does a typical day look like for me?  After a cup a coffee and hopefully some type of work out, I probably spend six hours a day at my desk either paying the bills (one of my jobs in this relationship other than the horse racing bills), working on my fashion and home business, dialing into the home we are building to sale in California, or working on my beautiful charity that’s near and dear to me!  Check out the video below for more details.

My California Office Space

My cozy California office corner is my little slice of paradise, complete with an incredible ocean view, a tv that literally comes down from the ceiling, and a fireplace next to me for the winter months!  This house is more elevated than the Texas home, so I wanted the space to feel intentional.  Like it was meant to be there from the beginning while designing the house.  I found a perfect oval desk and a gorgeous oval lamp (thank you McCall Henke with your help on this).  The look turned out charming, seamless, and elevated.  This space is where inspiration flows as freely as the waves (HA)!

SOME ADVICE ON HOW TO GET STARTED

The first step to any successful makeover is decluttering. Start by sorting through your workspace. Toss out anything you don’t need, and consider investing in stylish storage solutions. Think baskets, shelves, or decorative boxes that keep your essentials organized but also add aesthetic appeal.  The goal is this…by the end of the work day, you can easily store everything away so the space looks clean and organized!

A SPECIAL MOMENT

Maybe once a week or so I receive the sweetest messages from other ladies.  In the big scheme of things, us ladies have to love one another, support one another, and inspire one another.  Writing this blog is such a joy for me so please keep the emails coming with any feedback 🙂

Joe Knows Office

Joe had two things he had to have in the house.  An outdoor shower and a fish tank!  I was not originally keen on the idea of the tank but it turned out amazing in his office.  I’m sure he needs the feeling of peace and tranquility the fish provide as he’s on his board calls.  We decided to really focus on the art pieces in his office.  The black and white picture is from David Yarrow, and the other pieces behind his desk are from a local artist that personalized them for us.  These custom pieces tie the entire space together… So don’t be afraid of adding art to your office! Adding art isn’t just about making it look good; it’s about crafting a vibe that fuels your creativity and keeps your spirits high.

LUXURY BECOMES REASONABLE

Quick story on his desk:  While building the house I flew to Milan to attend Art Basel, where they curate the finest art and furniture in the world all in one huge expo.  My home decor was either found in Italy on this trip, or the ideas were planted for each space on this trip.  Joe’s desk is a perfect example.  I walk into the LUXURY LIVING GROUP space where they feature Bentley, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, and Bugatti.  My mouth literally dropped with excitement!  I zoned in on the Bentley desk for Joe, which was spectacular!  After returning to California, they come back and told us the desk would cost $100,000!!!  You should have seen Joe’s face 🫣!  He said he couldn’t sleep at night if he spent that much.  So what did we do?  We hired someone in Los Angeles to make a custom desk for us with basically the same look!  Brilliant if I do say myself.  And let’s just say, it wasn’t even close to $100,000!

So, get ready to dive in and start your own experimenting! With some creativity and thoughtfulness, you can transform your home office into a space that boosts your productivity and reflects your style. Here’s to creating a workspace you genuinely enjoy—happy office decorating!

To God be the Glory for all the things He has done!

Love you all,

Amy
