As the crisp autumn air settles in and the leaves start to turn…just kidding.  We are talking about Texas here!  If the leaves change for more than three days and it’s not 90 degrees half the time, it’s a small miracle!  Of course the week that I was in New York for fashion week, it was absolutely perfect in Texas, 75 and sunny ☀️.  Right after returning its right back up to 100 degrees! Saying that, fall in Texas is still my favorite time of the year.  No matter where you are, there’s no better time to give your front porch a seasonal makeover. A well-decorated porch not only boosts your home’s curb appeal but also creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests and passersby. If you’re looking to embrace the cozy charm of fall, here’s a guide to transforming your front porch into a picturesque autumn haven.

Pumpkin Power

It’s fall decor—come on, you have to add pumpkins, or what’s the point? Last year was the first time I tried to create the perfect pumpkin porch, originating from a deep dive into pinterest. Pumpkins are basically the VIPs of autumn, and they’re a must-have for your porch setup. Whether you go classic with orange, keep it cool with white, or get adventurous with blue and green, pumpkins add that seasonal flair we all crave. Stack them high like a pumpkin tower or arrange them in a chic display. Just remember: no pumpkins, no fall. It’s practically a rule!  Advice…order your pumpkins early as they fly off the shelves quick!  We had to search several pumpkin patches last year.  If you don’t get the real ones, they’re are some great options on Amazon.

Floral Flair

Adding mums to your fall decor gives your porch a charming, feminine touch, if I’m being honest. These vibrant blooms are bright, cheerful, and perfect for the season. These colorful blooms come in sunny yellows, fiery oranges, and deep reds, and even purple so you can give your porch a burst of fall fabulousness.  My personal fav are the deep reds.

Pop them into pots by your front door or create a vibrant flower display that says, “Hey, look at me, I’m ready for fall!” Feel free to mix and match colors like you’re decorating for a festive fall party. And remember, mums aren’t just pretty faces—they’re the charming sidekick to your pumpkin crew, making your porch not just fall-ready but fall-tastic!

Additional Fall Fun

A fall wreath on your front door instantly adds a seasonal touch to your porch. Choose from wreaths made of dried leaves, pinecones, or berries, or opt for a modern twist with faux pumpkins and fall florals. You can also enhance the look with a matching garland around your door. To personalize your entryway, add a doormat that combines function with style. A fall-themed doormat featuring pumpkins and leaves not only welcomes guests but also sets the tone for the rest of your décor.  I prefer the quirky, fun options that bring a smile to my guest face before walking in.

When the sun goes down, lanterns make both a functional and festive addition to your porch. They provide soft lighting and create a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Choose lanterns with warm, flickering candles or battery-operated lights to enhance your fall décor and welcome guests with a charming glow.  Hint…use good batteries and not the cheapos or you’ll have to switch them out.

Remember, the best part of decorating is making the space your own, so have fun and let your personality shine through your fall décor!

Enjoy God’s beauty as the leaves change, halloween loads you up with buckets of Almond Joys, and Thanksgiving brings us all together once again! Fall is not just a season; it’s a way of life!

To God be the glory!
